Stimulus Opportunities

The Department of Workforce Services received American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) – Economic Stimulus Funding to help support the following program services and benefits:

ARRA was signed into law by President Barack Obama on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. This legislation represents an unprecedented effort to jumpstart our economy, create or save millions of jobs, and put a down payment on addressing long-neglected challenges so our country can thrive in the 21st century. It is intended to provide a stimulus to the U.S. economy in the wake of the economic downturn and includes; tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits, provisions to support education, health care, infrastructure projects and priorities for projects and efforts that support the energy sector. In general the ARRA funds, also referred to as “stimulus” funds, are to be spent within a two-year period, beginning on or about April 1, 2009. The State of Utah may receive $1.6 billion in formula funding. More information about how these funds are distributed in Utah can be found at www.recovery.utah.gov
