Utah's Employment Summary: September 2016


Utah’s September 2016 employment grew by an estimated 2.9 percent, adding 39,800 jobs to the economy as compared to September 2015. Utah’s current employment level registers 1,434,200.

September’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined three-tenths from August to 3.4 percent. Approximately 50,700 Utahns were unemployed in the month and actively seeking work. The national unemployment rate crept up one tenth of a percentage point from August to 5.0 percent. More...

Utahns continue to benefit from one of the best unemployment insurance programs in the nation the U.S. Department of Labor affirmed today. Utah was awarded the “Triple Crown” for being the top performing unemployment insurance division, which operates faster and more effectively than in any other medium sized state in the nation.

Utah’s employment in August 2016 grew by an estimated 3.3 percent, adding 44,800 jobs to the economy as compared to August 2015. Utah’s current employment level registers 1,420,900.


The unemployment rate for August’ declined two-tenths from July to 3.7 percent. Approximately 54,800 Utahns were unemployed in the month and actively seeking work. The national unemployment rate held steady from July to August at 4.9 percent. More...
