Refugees empowered with English skills and work readiness training

Congratulation to our graduates of the Pre-Literate Refugee English Skills Training/Work Readiness English as a Second Language (PREST and WRESL) programs.

Students enrolling in these programs spend six hours in ESL and work skills instruction daily. Partnering with Granite Peaks and the Asian Association of Utah since 2013, we are able to serve more than 25 students in each program. Since the official start of the this cohort, many refugees have already exited because of employment opportunities.

As open-entry, open-exit programs, the graduation on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, was more of a celebration to recognize all of the enrolled students' hard work, participation and English improvements. The celebration included singing, dancing, slideshows, food and a speech from a WRESL student.
