Salt Lake City – For the ninth consecutive year, the state
of Utah will recognize and honor companies that are creating exceptional workplaces
and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs. The State
is now accepting nominations for the 2007 Utah Work/Life Awards. The companies
that compete for this honor range in size, industry and geographic region, but
they have one thing in common—they know what their employees need and
what they need from their employees; and they know how to align those needs
with their business strategy.
Whether a company is small or large, for-profit or non-profit, has vast resources
available or relies on a few dedicated employees to get the job done, this award
will honor the workplaces that listen to employees and strive to create and
maintain a culture of equity and opportunity. As competition for the Award has
increased over the past eight years, and the applicant pool has expanded, the
creativity and ingenuity of businesses and business leaders has also grown.
“Businesses have learned the wisdom of incorporating work/life initiatives
into their corporate culture and everyday operations, as they reap the benefits
of improved productivity, commitment, retention, recruitment and morale, along
with declines in absenteeism, turnover, health care and training costs,”
said Lynette Rasmussen, Director of Utah’s Office of Work & Family
Life. “The best practices learned and shared through the Award process
have a positive impact on Utah’s economy, businesses, communities, families
and quality of life.”
All Utah companies are eligible to participate in the 2007 Utah Work/Life Awards.
Individuals may nominate their own company or any other Utah company that they
think should be recognized as one of Utah’s best places to work. Awards
will be presented at the annual Work/Life Celebration in early Spring, 2007.
Award nominations are being accepted from September 6 to October 13. The nomination
form, online application details and information on past winners may be found
