There is a potential serious problem facing the automotive industry:
a shortage of skilled workers. The MotorFest event seeks to offset this problem
by educating students to this exciting career field by partnering with industry,
educators and state and local government.
MotorFest will be held at the Salt Lake Community College Larry H. Miller Campus
9750 South 300 West in Sandy, September 27 & 28 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Also, a family night event with a keynote speaker and door prizes will take
place on September 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
The MotorFest event will provide students with hands-on exposure to the diverse
careers in the Automotive and Diesel Industries. The event will feature professional
demonstrations, interactive exhibits, door prizes and training information for
the most in-demand occupations.
This event represents a dynamic partnership between the business community,
and Utah State Government, the sponsors of the event are: The Larry H. Miller
Group, Department of Workforce Services, Automotive Youth Educational Systems
(AYES), Auto Body Supply, GT Automotive, Utah State Office of Education, Salt
Lake Community College, Ken Garff Group, Salt Lake Tooele Applied Technology
College, Utah Transit Authority (UTA), Clearfield Job Corps, United Auto Workers,
Youth Employment Services, Snap On Tools, Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce,
DWS Central Region Council, and the Utah Office of Apprenticeship.
