The 3rd Annual Non-Traditional Occupations for Women (N.O.W.)
Conference will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m. at the Davis Applied Technology College, 550 East 300 South, Kaysville.
This free conference is available to women seeking employment opportunities
that pay well and have a good projected outlook. Non-traditional careers highlighted
at the conference include machinist, composite materials technician, welder,
and electronics/industrial maintenance technician.
Workshops and tours will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and run until 1:00 p.m.
to provide participants an on-the-job perspective in these exciting, non-traditional
career fields. Keynote speakers and lunch will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00
p.m. Speakers include Pam Livingston-Lewis, lead welding instructor at Weber
Basin Job Corps and author of Hotter the Fire, Stronger the Steel, and Diana
Guetschow, trainer at the University of Phoenix. At the conclusion of the conference,
a prize drawing will be held. After which, a job fair, open to the general public,
will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
