DWS Releases New Career Guide for Women
SALT LAKE CITY - A new career planning resource for women is now available from the Department of Workforce Services (DWS). Utah Careers Supplement for Women is a free booklet available at any DWS office, and is a supplement to the department's career guide, Utah Careers.
Utah Careers Supplement for Women spells out the facts about women, wages and work, and can help women plan realistically for meeting their needs.
"Women make up 45 percent of Utah's labor force," says economist Lecia Langston. "The average Utah woman, whether married, divorced, single, or raising children is likely to work for pay. However, because many do not plan for careers and often carry the primary load of caring for home and children, women face unique workforce challenges. This guide addresses and poses solutions to those unique challenges."
Utah Careers Supplement for Women should be used with the main career guide, Utah Careers, which contains a great deal of career information and advice for everyone. Both publications are available at no cost by calling (801) 526-9785 or by e-mail: wipublications@utah.gov . Both guides also are on the DWS Web site, jobs.utah.gov. Click on Economic Information, then on Publications, and select the publication you want from the drop-down menu. All or parts of both publications can be printed and/or used without any copyright problems.
