Salt Lake City For the eleventh consecutive year, the State of Utah will recognize and honor companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs. The state is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Utah Work/Life Awards.
Whether a company is small or large, for-profit or non-profit, has vast resources available or relies on a few dedicated employees to get the job done, this award will honor the workplaces that best listen to their specific employees and strive to create a culture of equity and opportunity. As competition for the award has increased over the past decade, and the applicant pool has expanded, the creativity and ingenuity of businesses and business leaders has also grown.
In todays economy, work/life issues are more important than ever. Businesses lose money everyday that they do not effectively address the work/life needs of their employees, said Lynette Rasmussen, Director of Utahs Office of Work & Family Life, Utah Department of Workforce Services. A successful work/life program positively impacts the bottom-line of companies of all sizes, through improvements in morale, productivity and enhanced employee commitment. This award recognizes those businesses that have successfully incorporated work/life initiatives into their corporate culture and everyday operations.
All Utah companies are eligible to participate in the 2009 Utah Work/Life Awards. Individuals may nominate their own company or refer any other Utah company that they think should be recognized as one of Utahs Best Places to Work. Awards will be presented at the annual Work/Life Celebration this summer.
Award nominations are being accepted from January 14 to February 11. The nomination form, online application details and information on past winners may be found by going to www.jobs.utah.gov and clicking on Work/Life Awards.
