Description:  XML Professional Publisher (XPP) Specialist Job # 12567BR City Ogden State/Province Utah FT/PT Full Time Qty 1 Job Description Employer, Ogden, Utah, is looking for an XML Professional Publisher (XPP) Specialist to support the digitization and publication of large, complex technical manuals. The specialist will use SGML and XML based publishing technologies (creation, development, and/or maintenance of), user-needs specifications and standards to develop digital technical manuals. Duties include but are not limited to: Oversee all publishing related activities. Review industry and customer specifications and source data; work with other individuals as needed (PM, Analysts, Developers, Authors, customers, etc.) to understand and potentially recommend changes and document structural and publishing requirements for any given project. Create XPP-stylesheets adhering to DoD requirements and specifications. Create and update Format Output Specifications Instance (FOSI) components, Arbortext Command Language (ACL) scripts, and/or other related components. Accurately review and update output to ensure compliance with specified requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve any reported publishing / output problems. Stay abreast of advances in publishing and structuring technologies and participate in technological forums and communities as required to recommend and implement publishing process improvements. Gather and integrate the Document Type Definition (DTD) files. Develop and revise the Formatting Output Specification Instance (FOSI). Develop and revise (as needed) the Screen FOSI. Develop and revise the Auxiliary Tag Description (ATD) and the Tag Description Table (TDT). Perform SGML tagging. Assign and monitor tagging tasks. Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: Two or more years relevant experience. Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience (1-3 years) with SDL publishing software. XPP stylesheet development in particular. (2-3) years minimum of experience working with mark-up languages (XML, HTML, and/or SGML) Intermediate to advanced knowledge (1-3 years) of XML and/or SGML based publishing technologies (creation, development, and/or maintenance of), data publishing components including XSL technologies (XSLT and XSL-FO), and/or FOSIs. Strong personal skills; able to communicate and coordinate with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly analyze data and make recommendations for improvement. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information. DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Prior experience with Government organizations strongly desired. (Preferably DoD). Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience (1-3 years) with Arbortext Editor and Arbortext Isodraw. Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience (2-3 years) with publishing software (SDL XPP or Arbortext Publishing Engine or DL Composer). Ability to conduct QA and create mechanisms to ensure error free delivery. Ability to take content from source through conversion and publishing. EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelors degree in technical area or equivalent. Amount of Travel Required for Position 0%-25%
