Child Care
Employment Support Child Care Requirements:
To receive help from the Employment Support Program with
paying for child care you must:
- be a US citizen or meet the requirements to be
classified as a “qualified alien”
- be a parent, specified relative, or legal guardian to
the child needing care
- have a job
- have a low enough income to be eligible
- have a need for child care during the hours in which
you’re working or attending a training program
- children must be under age 13 (or age18 if the child is disabled).
Work Requirements and Child Care for Training
- If you are a single parent, you must work at least an
average of 15 hours per week and earn at least minimum wage.
- If you are in a two-parent household--One parent must
meet the 15-hour requirement; the other parent must work at least an average
of 30 hours per week and earn at least minimum wage.
- We will only pay for “overlapping” hours of need when
both parents are participating.
- If you are in a training program, you may still receive child-care help as long as you are meeting minimum work requirements and you can complete your training within 24 months.
