Mental Retardation and Related Concerns (DDMR)
The Mental Retardation and Related Concerns Program
(DDMR) helps people with severe disabilities live at home rather than in an
institution (like a nursing home). A service plan is made for
the customer. Applications are taken through the Division for Services for
People with Disabilities
(DSPD)
and space is limited.
How to Qualify:
You must have been disabled before age 22 .Your net income (after deductions like medical bills
and an $830 earned income deduction are taken out) must not be more than 100% of
poverty. Only your income is counted, not the people you live with.If your income is over the income limit, you can
spenddown or "buy" Medicaid coverage by paying cash or turning in medical bills
that bring your income below the income limit.You must be below the asset limits:
1 person - $2,000Other asset rules apply if you are married.
