Emergency Unemployement Compensation

Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) became effective in Utah for the benefit week starting Sunday, July 6th. Generally claimants may be eligible for up to 13 weeks of additional EUC if they have met the following requirements below:

• Have exhausted all rights to regular compensation under the Utah State law with respect to a benefit year, excluding any benefit year that ended before May 1, 2007 and
• Have no rights to regular compensation or extended compensation with respect to a week under any State unemployment compensation law.
• The individual remains able and available for full-time work
• The individual is unemployed through no fault of their own
• No payments of emergency benefits will be made for any week beginning after July 4, 2009.

In general the weekly benefit amount shall be equal to the amount of regular state unemployment benefits. The maximum EUC payable is equal to the lesser of 50 percent of the total amount of regular UI benefits or 13 times the individuals average weekly benefit amount for the benefit year.

Claims may be backdated to July 6th when the program became effective.
