DWS Definitions and Acronyms

Customer

Any person applying for, accessing, using, and/or receiving programs and services provided by DWS.

Eligibility Service Center (ESC)

Located throughout the state, these four centers provide eligibility services to customers for supportive services such as food stamps, child care, medical and cash assistance.  Applications are completed online, by telephone or mail.

Employment Center (EC)

DWS has Employment Centers, also known as One-Stop Centers, throughout the state, providing walk-in access to all DWS services.

Employment Counselor

DWS service provider working specifically with external customers.

eREP

A web-based application, used by DWS employees to determine eligibility and issue benefits for several public assistance programs in Utah, including Medicaid, food stamps and various other financial assistance programs.

Service Provider

DWS employee providing services to internal as well as external customers.

UWORKS

DWS web-based case management and labor exchange system supporting self-service job seekers in their job search efforts, employers in their placement needs, as well as supporting DWS staff in providing and tracking services in a seamless manner to the customer, while capturing the required funding source data.
