Utah Interpreter Program Celebrates 30 Years of Service


This week, The Utah Interpreter Program (UIP) marks its 30th anniversary of working directly with sign language interpreters and members of the Deaf, hard-of-hearing and DeafBlind communities. During the last three decades UIP has ensured that American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters throughout the state meet the highest standards through certification and professional development as well as maintaining a statewide interpreter directory. $55 Million Allotted to Address the Needs of Utahns Experiencing Homelessness



In April 2022, SB238 was signed by Gov. Cox and Lt. Gov. Henderson. This $55 million housing bill addresses homelessness, affordable housing, and wraparound services. Through our Office of Homeless Services and Housing and Community Development Division, along with community partners, these funds will make a real difference in helping Utahns to transition out of homelessness. More...




Utah’s Employment Summary: March 2022


(April 15, 2022) Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for March 2022 increased an estimated 4.0% across the past 12 months, with the state’s economy adding a cumulative 62,900 jobs since March 2021. Utah’s current job count stands at 1,650,800.

March’s seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 2.0%, with approximately 33,400 Utahns unemployed. February’s unemployment rate remains unrevised at 2.1%. The March national unemployment rate continued to move downward, lowering to 3.6%. More...
