To celebrate the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week, the Utah Department of Workforce Services hosted an Apprenticeship Summit and Job Fair on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024 at the Salt Mine Productive Workspace in Sandy. We were honored to have the Austrian delegation attend and participate in the event.
On Nov. 18, 2024, Austria and Utah signed a Memorandum of Understanding on apprenticeship cooperation, aiming to exchange best practices between Austria and Utah and create opportunities for businesses, educational institutions and government to collaborate on apprenticeships. The MOU establishes a framework for collaboration to enhance the state’s youth apprenticeship model. "This is a significant step forward in our shared commitment to workforce development and expansion of high quality apprenticeship programs," said Her Excellency Dr. Petra Schneebauer, Ambassador of Austria to the United States.

Following the summit, an apprenticeship job fair was held where more than 130 job seekers came to learn about career opportunities in apprenticeship.
