Workforce Services Appoints New Office of Child Care Director
SALT LAKE CITY- SALT LAKE CITY—The Department of Workforce Services has selected Tracy Gruber as the new Director of Utah’s Office of Child Care. Tracy is taking over from Kristen Floyd, who is leaving to focus on several family business ventures.
"Tracy has exhibited a work ethic and passion for Utah’s children that make her a perfect fit to lead our Office of Child Care," said Jon Pierpont, Executive Director of the Department of Workforce Services. "She will be a great asset to the state and a valuable resource for parents and child care providers."
Tracy most recently served as DWS’ senior advisor on Intergenerational Poverty, and prior to that was the Director of State Fiscal Policy for Voices for Utah Children. Tracy’s work with Voices for Utah Children included a heavy emphasis on legislative policy, issue research and public outreach. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Tracy earned her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law and worked at the Utah State Bar as the administrator of the New Lawyer Training Program.
"The welfare of Utah’s children as they grow into adults is very important to me," Tracy said. "I’m excited and honored to take on this new role, where I hope to have a positive impact on state policy impacting Utah’s families."
Tracy will retain her advisory role over intergenerational poverty as she assumes the responsibilities of leading the Office of Child Care, which will take place September 2. She currently lives in Salt Lake City with her husband and two children.
