Utah's Unemployment Insurance Program Leads Nationally
State Honored with National Award for an Unprecedented Fifth Time

SALT LAKE CITY - Utahns continue to benefit from one of the best unemployment insurance programs in the nation the U.S. Department of Labor affirmed. Utah was recognized for being the top performing unemployment insurance division, which operates faster and more effectively than in any other medium sized state in the nation.

"We consistently give top-tier service to Utahns in need, which is what this award is all about," said Jon Pierpont, executive director of the Department of Workforce Services. "This recognition highlights our daily commitment to quality customer service and efficient operations."

The division was recognized for its operational excellence in both functions of benefit payments and employer contributions. The award came at the National Unemployment Insurance Directors’ Conference happening this week in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"It is an honor to have our capable and caring staff recognized for the quality work they do every day," said Michelle Beebe, director of the Utah Unemployment Insurance Division. "To win this award five years in a row shows that we take our work in Utah's communities and stewardship of taxpayer funds seriously."
