State Workforce Development Board Announces New Chair

SALT LAKE CITY - Today at the State Workforce Development Board meeting, the Utah Department of Workforce Services announced that Megen Ralphs has been appointed by Governor Gary R. Herbert as the new board chair. Ralphs will replace outgoing chair Daniel Marriott, who served in that role for three years, and on the board for a total of six.

"We are grateful for Daniel's service as the board chair," said Jon Pierpont, Workforce Services Executive Director. "His leadership has been integral in the success of the board – growing and supporting Utah's workforce, and consequently, promoting a healthy economy." The incoming board chair, Megen Ralphs, is the Director of Human Resources at SyberJet, a Cedar City-based aerospace company, with an extensive background in human resources and education. "Megen has been an incredible asset as a member of the board for the past year and a half and we are excited to welcome her into this new role," said Pierpont. "The board demonstrates Utah's powerful collaboration between business, education, government and community organizations, and I look forward to continuing those great relationships," said Ralphs. "I appreciate the opportunity to keep our efforts moving forward to develop a strong, diverse, in-demand workforce." Prior to her current role at SyberJet, Ralphs served as the Director of Career and Professional Development at Southern Utah University, and also worked for more than six years at Utah State University. Ralphs has a master's degree in human resources. Learn more about workforce development in Utah and about the State Board at http://jobs.utah.gov/workforce.
