Workforce Services Appoints New Utah State Office of Rehabilitation Director

SALT LAKE CITY (July 19, 2017) — The Department of Workforce Services has selected Sarah Brenna as the new division director of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation. In this position, she will be responsible for the oversight and administration of programs serving individuals with disabilities.

Prior to this new role, Brenna held various positions for Salt Lake County as the Human Services associate department director and Aging Services director. Most recently, she served as a program manager leading 100 employees and overseeing administration of active aging programs, including a federal meal program and health programs for older adults.  

In addition, Brenna has served as the county’s Administrative Services department director where she administered a $67 million budget providing internal support for all county agencies. “Sarah brings with her a breadth of experience to lead our programs and continue providing the best services for our clients with disabilities,” said Jon Pierpont, executive director of Workforce Services. “With her desire to serve people with disabilities and knowledge of effective administration, I’m confident she will continue to move forward the great work of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation.”

Brenna also worked for the Department of Workforce Services for 11 years as a program manager and legislative director. Her duties included managing state and federal programs such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, refugee resettlement, general assistance and the Workforce Investment Act and Trade Act.

Brenna earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Utah. She will assume her duties starting August 7, 2017.
