Housing Inventory Count
Conducted on the same night as the Point-In-Time Count (PIT) during the last ten days in January, the Housing Inventory Count (HIC) measures the single-night supply and utilization of beds and units dedicated to responding to homelessness in the following types of projects:
- Emergency Shelter
- Transitional Housing
- Rapid Rehousing
- Permanent Supportive Housing
- Other Permanent Housing
In addition to displaying beds and utilization by project type, the HIC also reports on beds for specific household types and subpopulations, such as families, veterans, survivors of domestic violence, youth, and people with HIV or AIDS.
By measuring the supply of various types of homeless responses on the night the PIT measures demand for those resources, the HIC allows Utah and its communities to understand if they have the right amount and mix of resources to meet the needs of Utahns experiencing homelessness and accomplish the goals defined in their strategic plans.
