Community-Driven Housing Program
Overview
The Community-Driven Housing Program (CDHP) encourages cities and counties to proactively address the affordable housing needs of their residents. Participating communities gain access to funding that has been set aside exclusively for community-initiated housing projects that fulfill goals established in the communities' moderate-income housing plans.
How It Works
Each year, HCD invites cities and counties with high-quality, moderate-income housing plans to participate in the Community-Driven Housing Program. Invited communities that elect to participate in the program nominate affordable, multi-family housing projects that align with needs identified in their moderate-income housing plans. HCD then helps participating communities form partnerships with project developers who work out the logistics of the proposed projects and apply for CDHP funding through the Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund Board.
Participants
Developments initiated through the CDHP process that have received OWHLF funding include the following:
- Vernal Gardens Apartments (48 units of workforce housing in Vernal, Utah)
- West Jordan Senior II Apartments (72 units of senior housing in West Jordan, Utah)
- Cinema Court Apartments (60 units of workforce housing in Moab, Utah)
- Eastgate Apartments (72 units of workforce housing in Price, Utah)
