In 1999, May was designated as Military Appreciation Month by Congress. May was selected because there are several holidays honoring veterans within the month including, Victory Day, VE Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day.

Those who are currently serving or have served in the armed forces are an integral part of Utah’s workforce. We appreciate the sacrifices service members make. With Memorial Day coming up, we honor and remember those who lost their lives protecting the freedoms we all enjoy. To show our appreciation for veterans and their families, Workforce Services offers a variety of resources and tools to help military members smoothly transition from military service to the civilian workforce.

Currently serving military members, veterans, and spouses can utilize our job search tools to find new employment or better job opportunities. In addition to the job search tools, the Department of Workforce Services has a variety of programs designed to support veterans and spouses with education and training, obtaining licenses and certifications and acquiring tools and uniforms.

In addition to the certification and training programs, Workforce Services has veteran specialists who are dedicated to helping veterans find the right job for them. All of our veteran specialists are veterans themselves, so they know first-hand what transitioning from military service to the civilian workforce is like.
