Employment Update - Unemployment Rates

Unemployment rates come from a monthly Bureau of Labor Statistics survey program called the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program. It is a measure of those people who reside in a county, are jobless, and are available to take a job and have actively sought work in the past four weeks. The unemployment rate is a proxy for the availability of labor.

Note: the unemployment rate is not measured by the number of people filing for unemployment insurance.
