According to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Utah’s 2016 veteran unemployment rate is 2.3 percent, ranking Utah as one of the top five states for veteran employment in the U.S. Since 2011, the veteran jobless rate has dropped from 8.1 percent to the current 2.3 percent.

Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for January 2017 grew by an estimated 3.2 percent, adding 43,800 jobs to the economy since January 2016. Utah’s current employment level registers 1,431,800.
January’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined one tenth of a percent from December to 3.1. Approximately 47,800 Utahns were unemployed during the month and actively seeking work.
