Utah businesses named on 2018 Disability Equality Index for supporting disabilities in the workplace

Additional businesses to be honored at upcoming Disability:IN summit on October 16

Salt Lake City, UT (August 20, 2018) — The Department of Workforce Services' Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) and Disability:IN Utah announced today that five of its business partners were named on the 2018 Disability Equality Index: Goldman Sachs, Verizon, Walmart, Wells Fargo and UPS.

The Disability Equality Index measures the best places to work for disability inclusion. Business partners with a footprint in Utah who received the highest score of 100 on the index were Goldman Sachs, Walmart and Wells Fargo. The next highest score of 90 was awarded to UPS. Businesses were measured on their culture and leadership, employment practices, community engagement, supplier diversity and enterprise-wise access.

"We value our business partners who are committed to serving Utahns with disabilities and providing work opportunities for them," said Leah Lobato, director of the Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and Business Relations at USOR. "We invite those who do business in Utah to join Disability:IN so we can support them in their commitment to
disabilities in the workplace."

Additional businesses supporting Utahns with disabilities through employment will be honored at the 44th Annual Golden Key Awards during the inaugural Disability:IN Summit (formerly known as Utah Business Leadership Network) on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Registration is open to all Utah businesses at utahbln.org
