Annual Nonfarm Employment by Industry

Nonfarm employment only counts jobs as reported into Utah’s unemployment insurance coverage. Non-corporate agriculture and the self-employed are not included in the job counts. Even so, this is a sizable measure of local employment. Job counts are the primary measure of the performance of a local economy. The percentage change in the over-the-year job counts serve as the proxy for a local area’s economic growth.
