Utah's Employment Summary: November 2017



Employment in Utah for November 2017 grew by an estimated 2.9 percent, adding 42,100 jobs to the economy since November 2016. Utah’s current employment level registers 1,498,100. October’s year-over job growth was revised from 2.7 percent to 2.8 percent.


November’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped one-tenth of a percentage point from the prior month to 3.2 percent. Approximately 50,300 Utahns were unemployed during the month and actively seeking work. The national unemployment rate remained unchanged from October at 4.1 percent. More...

The majority of Utah’s employers will see a reduction in their unemployment insurance tax rates for the 2018 calendar year. In 2018, more than 75 percent of Utah's established employers will qualify for the minimum contribution rate of approximately $34 per employee per year — a 48 percent decrease from 2017.
