Case Management

Community Advocacy Services (CAS) team are case workers at the DSDHH. They are trained to assist people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind.

Here is what the CAS team does:

  • They find and help people get services from government programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, food assistance, financial and childcare assistance.
  • They teach people how to be independent and speak up for their own needs.
  • They assist in finding and applying for housing options.
  • They can refer to mental health counselor when someone needs it.

The DSDHH has two Case Managers in Salt Lake City and one in St. George who can use American Sign Language to communicate. These services are free of charge.  All information is kept completely private.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) provides free, objective, and personalized counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and their families to help them navigate Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, and prescription drug plans all at no cost to the individual.

The Medicare Open Enrollment Period runs from October 15 to December 7. During this time, you can review and compare Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare Prescription Drug (Part D) plan options for the following year and make changes to your coverage, such as joining a new plan, changing plans, or dropping a plan. Your new coverage choices will become effective on January 1.

  • Every year in Weber/Davis County, Salt Lake County and Utah County, we host a SHIP clinic during open enrollment. Please contact our front desk to schedule an appointment.  801-657-5200 VP or 801-263-4800 V
