SALT LAKE CITY (May 17, 2024) — Utah’s nonfarm payroll employment for April 2024 increased an estimated 2.1% across the past 12 months, with the state’s economy adding a cumulative 36,800 jobs since April 2023. Utah’s current job count stands at 1,752,000.
April’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 2.8%. Approximately 50,600 Utahns are unemployed. Utah’s March unemployment rate is unrevised at 2.8%. The April national unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.9%. More...

Seasonal employment is temporary work to meet an organization’s interim needs during certain times of the year. This might include businesses that are only open during part of each year, such as ski resorts, or businesses that need extra workers during peak periods, as many retailers do during the holiday shopping season. Most seasonal employment is part-time, though some full-time positions are available. Depending on the employer, the location, and the time of year, a seasonal job might only last a few weeks or continue for several months. March’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is estimated at 2.8%. Approximately 50,600 Utahns are unemployed. Utah’s February unemployment rate is unrevised at 2.8%. The March national unemployment rate lowered one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.8%. More...
