The state's unemployment insurance trust fund remains solvent, meaning its current balance can sustain benefit payments to individuals who are unemployed through no fault of their own for more than a year. We have resources available to assist you with your responsibility to pay your unemployment insurance taxes and help keep Utah's trust fund solvent. Keep reading below!

Infographic: November 2022 Unemployment Rate in Utah is 2.2%. In U.S. the rate is  3.7%. Job growth in Utah is 2.6% and in U.S. is 3.2%. Average weekly initial unemployment insurance claims were 1,802. Initial unemployment insurance claims change was 21.9%.

Virtual Job Fair. Thursday, January 12, 2023. 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Posting and recruiting for a job can be simple given the right resources. With Workforce Services, you have access to the following assistance at no cost.
  • We have partnered with Silicon Slopes for our next virtual Job Fair, Jan. 12, 2023. If you're looking to hire recently laid off workers or any other job seekers attending the fair, contact your local Workforce Development Specialist to set up a booth. Additionally, if you find yourself in a position to have to lay off staff, consider sharing the virtual job fair information with them.  
  • On-site recruitments in a local employment center. To reserve your spot, visit jobs.utah.gov, select the “Post a Job,” sign in and then select “Onsite Recruitment.”
  • An online chat to answer your general questions and help you post a job after logging into your employer account.
  • Local Workforce Services Facebook pages to reach a broader audience. 
Managing your unemployment account can be straightforward without pitfalls, especially with these tips and tricks:
  • Remember, quarterly wage and new hire reporting, claims questions, filing an appeal and paying your unemployment insurance taxes are easy to complete online
  • Live chat with an unemployment insurance representative regarding questions about filing or paying online. 
  • Mark your calendar with due dates to file your quarterly unemployment insurance report and avoid penalties.
Mind the dates. 1st Quarter: Wages paid during January-March the Wage Report is due on April 30th. The Second Quarter is wages paid between April and June and the Wage Report is due on July 31st. The third quarter is July-September and the Wage Report is due on October 31st. The fourth quarter is wages paid between October and December and the Wage Report is due on January 31st.
