Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids

The Housing Opportunities for Persons With Aids (HOPWA) program is administered by the Utah Office of Homeless Services (OHS). HOPWA competitive funds are awarded on the basis of a national competition. In addition, HOPWA technical assistance funds are also awarded through a national competition.

The Utah Office of Homeless Services receives HOPWA funds through a formula allocation and administers the HOPWA program with its community partners.  OHS contracts with various community partners to implement this program at the local level.

OHS community partners use the funds for a range of housing, social services, program planning, and development costs.   An essential component in providing housing assistance for this targeted special needs population is the coordination and delivery of support services.  HOPWA grantees through OHS are expected to participate in coordinating the necessary supportive services for their clients.

The Utah Office of Homeless Services administers HOPWA funding for Utah. Questions regarding the RFP process or funding can be directed to OHSprograms@utah.gov.
