Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids (HOPWA)
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) is a federal funding source designed to assist individuals living with HIV/AIDS by providing rent and case management services. The Utah Office of Homeless Services (OHS) obtains HOPWA funds through a formula allocation and collaborates with community partners to administer the program. OHS engages in contractual arrangements with various community partners to oversee the local implementation of this initiative.
HOPWA funding can be allocated to support the following projects: Short-Term Rent, Mortgage, and Utility Assistance (STRMU), Permanent Housing Placement (PHP), Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA), and Transitional/Short-Term Facilities.
