World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day was first celebrated on June 20, 2001 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. We celebrate refugee contributions and seek to build empathy, and promote understanding for their plight and their resilience to build a brighter future. Join us for our annual World Refugee Day celebration on June 21 and 22, 2024 at Big Cottonwood Regional Park.

We host this annual celebration with the help of our partners who provide resources and programs to help refugees succeed after being resettled in Utah. If you have any questions about World Refugee and how to get involved contact Lam Nguyen at Lnguyen@utah.gov.
